Prof. Siret Ratip, MD

Prof. Siret Ratip, MD is a hematology specialist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Hematology Department and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit – Adult. Her clinical work concentrates on blood and bone marrow diseases in adults, including acute and chronic leukemias, multiple myeloma and bone marrow disorders, together with bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapies such as CAR T-cell therapy. She has more than 39 years of experience in medicine.

Dr. Ratip graduated from King’s College School of Medicine in 1987. In 1993 she completed a Master’s in Clinical Genetics at the Institute of Child Health in London, and between 1994 and 1996 she worked at University College Hospital, London, where she obtained a hematology doctorate in 1996. She completed her training in internal medicine (1994) and hematology (1998) at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, where she also worked from 1996 to 2002 and was appointed Associate Professor in 2000. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2002. She is a member of the British Society of Haematology and the Turkish Hematology Association. Her published work includes studies on the psychosocial and clinical aspects of the thalassaemias, immunological and clinical findings in acute leukemia, dendritic cell development from CD34+ bone marrow cells, tuberculosis in adult allogeneic stem cell transplant recipients and first-line therapy in adult idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

Clinical focus

Dr. Ratip evaluates and treats adults with malignant and non-malignant hematologic conditions. Her areas of expertise include acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), multiple myeloma and other bone marrow disorders. Assessment typically involves reviewing the diagnosis, previous treatments and laboratory and bone marrow findings before discussing the options that may be appropriate for the individual patient.

Within the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit – Adult, she assesses patients for bone marrow transplantation and for cellular therapies, including CAR T-cell therapy. Whether such treatments are suitable depends on the specific disease, its stage, prior therapy and the patient’s general condition, and this is determined on a case-by-case basis after a full evaluation.

How Dr. Ratip works with international patients

Dr. Ratip consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
